If you haven’t already heard about Amy Winehouse, you most definitely have to check out of her music. Pronto! I heard about her a couple months ago, when I saw photos of her performing at the Cochella. I finally downloaded her music.
I attended the third day of the 30th Anniversary of Star Wars. It was really quite stimulating in many ways. The fans that were dressed in character were really fun, but I was especially inspired by the amazing artwork. Particularly, sculpture artist – Lawrence Noble. He creates these amazing bronze sculptures, that he sculpts from clay. Totally mindblowing stuff!

There were so many amazing artists. My bro purchased a limited edition litho by Dave Dorman.
Charles Ross, performed the “One Man Star Wars Trilogy”, which was completely hilarious.
Anyways, there was so much to see and do at the Star Wars 30th Anniversary. We will be taking the boys tomorrow. I posted a bunch of photos of my experience from the event at Flickr.
Yesterday was one of those days that I so wished that I could stay home and sleep all day long. It started with Elden pulling out an entire carton of eggs out of the refrigerator, which resulted in all the eggs to crash onto the floor. This of course happens right as we are about to go out the door. The day itself wasn’t too disastrous, but for some reason I was just extra stressed out. I guess it just sort of set the tone for the day.
The at school Brennan had a major meltdown. After recess he wanted water. I had no problem with giving him water, if he is thirsty, especially after playing outside. So I gave him a cup of water, but then the teacher says to him Brennan you need to sit down because it is not time to drink water yet. They have quiet time for a few moments, and then she reads a book. I can understand why she would want him to wait because normally if one kid wants a drink of water or something, then all the kids would want that same thing. But because she said this out loud Brennan goes under a desk with his water, which then creates this big thing. So I have to go get him out, but in the meantime he starts screaming and crying about it, which then full on causes him to have a major meltdown. I have to take him outside. He was really pissed off at the teacher. I was sort of bothered by it as well. She should have just let him drink his water in the first place. None of the above would have happened. If would have just drank the water and then sat back down, but he ended up being very distraught, which caused him to miss story time and also he never got a stamp. I guess I could have waited until the end too, but at the time I simply did not know that a whole chain of events would occur.
After class we picked up Elden from his playdate and went to the library for our regular weekly visit. Usually, Elden is usually home with Den. Wednesdays are usually the day that Brennan and I spend the whole day together, while Elden gets daddy time. Luckily, Elden fell asleep on the way to the library and stayed asleep in the library as well, so I was at least able to read Brennan some books. Den was supposed to go to a funeral, so I had planned to take the kids to the choochoo mall. We pretty much stayed at the there for several hours, and actually ended up leaving around 8:30, or so attempted to. I couldn’t start the car because at one point during the day, Elden hit this one button that for some reason turns on the both the headlights and rearlights. So as we were in the mall for all those 3 hours or so, the battery pretty much ran out. For some reason, I didn’t even notice that the lights were on. I called AAA. The operator thanked me for sounding so patient. I have to say that you gain so much patience after having kids. Brennan started freaking because the sound of me trying to start the car scared him. Fortunately, Den was home to pick the kids up and they didn’t have to stay cooped in the car while I waited for AAA.
I came home to breastfeed Elden, but he simply wanted to kiss them. Even after he woke up from his nap and was crying as I was trying to put him into the car, he refused to drink. But then he did drink about 6 ounces of milk from the sippy cup before. I was surprised that he didn’t want any in the evening because he usually has a pretty good feeding before going to bed. Brennan stopped at 22 months, which is what Elden is now. But with Brennan I had weaned him. I was planning on weaning Elden as well, but I think he is taking it upon himself to wean. Although, when he woke up around 3 a.m. and I brought him to our bed, he did drink a little. At first, he didn’t want any, but for some reason, he changed his mind. It was only for a few moments though. I am really happy though that he is taking it upon himself to stop. It is definitely time. We will see how he does today. I do feel a tiny bit sentimental because this is definitely a sign, that he is growing up and is definitely not a little baby anymore. But I am also really happy because then I can finally get my boobs back.
Hopefully, today will be uneventful.
This weekend, I will be at the Star Wars Celebration IV. I can’t wait to check out all the costumes and randomness.
My dad and his mom are coming back from their trip from Korea tomorrow. My grandmother hadn’t been back since the 70’s, I think or maybe before. I am not exactly sure. But my dad thought it would be nice to take his mom out there to visit relatives. I think she is in her upper eighties. My dad is turning 69 on his birthday, which is July 4. But I think they have a 15 year difference in age. Anyways, I can’t wait to see all the photos that my dad took there. I have been there twice. Once, when I was in elementary school, which I don’t have much of a memory of and another time in highschool, where I attended a summer program at my mom’s old college. I would love to eventually take the kids out there.
Anyways, that’s all for today. Have a lovely weekend webbyworld!
I forgot where I saw this from because I had saved it here a while ago.

I have my brother recording Sopranos for me on my Archos 404 because we don’t have HBO and any other fancy channels and I usually don’t get to watch it until Friday. I was so mad at myself last week because on Monday, I pretty much read all the spoilers and was shocked to find out that my beloved Christoper Moltisanti got killed off. So sad! So I have to really try my best not to look at the spoilers for what happened this past Sunday. So don’t tell me, k!
The past week or so, I pretty much feel like I fell into this vortex hole. I completed my class last week and have been just trying to get myself collected together again. I have a couple of scholarships that I need to apply to this week. I am a dork and totally waited to the very end and now there are only a few left to apply for, if that. I am also sort of informally looking for some work. I inquired about a position last week, so we will see what happens.
Other than being stuck in a black abyss, I have been trying to get my craft groove going on. I know that I keep saying that every month, and I still can’t get it going. Since we did stay home today, I did actually play with a little polymer clay. I am working on a sushi necklace, and it is taking me forever. Like I said, I just can’t get my crafty groove going on. So the only thing that I did complete was the Saki (salmon) sushi that I started working on last month, and a cute little Ikura sushi. I still want to make an Ikura (salmon roe), Toro (tuna), Ebi (shrimp), Unagi (freshwater eel), Tamago (hen’s egg omelet), and maybe a couple Tekkamaki (small tuna hand rolls), and Kappamaki (cucumber hand rolls). With the rate I am going, I will probably finish it next year. I have a lovely idea for an oxydized metal pendant, but I can’t get it started until I finish this damn sushi necklace. My goodness, what did I get my self into? I am one of those people that take forever to finish one thing, but have a million of ideas brewing in my brain. I hate starting another project without finishing something. Actually, this is one of my bad habits. I start too many things, and then never finish a thing.
I did plan on taking the boys to the choochoo mall today, but we just never got ourselves going. So we stayed in and I got to wear my pj’s all day. They drove me crazy. I love them to pieces, but seriously, I did feel like the wall was closing in on me. LOL!!!
Thank goodness, tomorrow is a normal school day. I will be taking the little one on a much needed walk on the Strand, or maybe just a brisk walk near Brennan’s school. I take that back. I will probably have to walk down to the Strand because I need to drop off some books at the library, which is near the beach.
So I am rocking to the Pretty Woman soundtrack right now, hee!!! I so loved this movie!!! Which reminds me, I rented “Simply Ming” disc 1 and 3, “Elizabeth”, and “Nicholas Nickleby”, and I still have not watched them yet. I don’t think I will be watching them because they are due on Wednesday. Oh well!
Oh, I almost forgot. Elden went #2 in the toilet today. He has been going pee in the toilet for a while, as well as everywhere else. LOL! I am so glad that he took it upon himself to start the process. The other day, he did #2 next to the toilet, so I sort of had high hopes. He will usually let me know that he has to go, and then I will strip him down, and he will get onto the toilet. I will usually leave him there for a moment or so. I hope he keeps this up because I am so done with the diapers.
Okay, I am so done writing this entry. I need to get started on scholarships.
I found my results to this survey created by the Pew Internet & American Life Project to be fairly accurate in describing my typology regarding technology. I have to admit that I truly love anything technology related. It is surprising to see that my type only makes up 8% of the American public. No, I take that back, I don’t really find that surprising at all.
I do find that the plethora of information that is readily available can be pretty overwhelming, especially now with Web 2.0 technology. RSS feeds, blogs, etc. make is so easy to share information more than ever before. In fact, I just completed my final research assignment this past week, which was on how libraries have been implementing Web 2.0 technology and more specifically RSS feeds onto their websites. When I get a chance, I will link my findings here on my blog.
If you take this survey, make sure to leave me a comment to your results.
Where do you fit?
Your Results
Based on your answers to the questionnaire, you most closely resemble survey respondents within the Omnivores typology group. This does not mean that you necessarily fit every group characteristic.
Omnivores make up 8% of the American public.
Basic Description
Members of this group use their extensive suite of technology tools to do an enormous range of things online, on the go, and with their cell phones. Omnivores are highly engaged with video online and digital content. Between blogging, maintaining their Web pages, remixing digital content, or posting their creations to their websites, they are creative participants in cyberspace.
Defining Characteristics
You might see them watching video on an iPod. They might talk about their video games or their participation in virtual worlds the way their parents talked about their favorite TV episode a generation ago. Much of this chatter will take place via instant messages, texting on a cell phone, or on personal blogs. Omnivores are particularly active in dealing with video content. Most have video or digital cameras, and most have tried watching TV on a non-television device, such as a laptop or a cell phone.
Omnivores embrace all this connectivity, feeling confident in how they manage information and their many devices. This puts information technology at the center of how they express themselves, do their jobs, and connect to their friends.
Who They Are
They are young, ethnically diverse, and mostly male (70%). The median age is 28; just more than half of them are under age 30, versus one in five in the general population. Over half are white (64%) and 11% are black (compared to 12% in the general population). English-speaking Hispanics make up 18% of this group. Perhaps unsurprisingly, many (42% versus the 13% average) of Omnivores are students.

Come join me at “Second Life“. My user name is Susie Schridde. My school San Jose State University purchased an island and developed a 16-acre virtual campus. Beginning this summer, they will be offering the nation’s first graduate degree course for library and information science professionals which will track the exciting new world of libraries in immersive worlds. I am so excited about the grand opening on May 16. Oh, and check out 12 Things to do in Second Life.
What a world of difference that a few days away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life does for a person. Our brain just gets so overloaded with information and so stressed out. Although our trip to Sequoia National Park was only for three days, it did a world of wonder for me. It was nice to go hiking, gaze at really large trees, and basically just hang out with my family. I posted some pictures on Flickr, but still have tons to upload. It was nice to slow down, and most of all clear the brain from all the everyday clutter.
I so can not live without “The Polymer Clay Technique Book“, by Sue Heaser. This a 2000 reprint of a 1999 edition. This book and my love for a particular food has inspired me to create some jewelry, in combination with beads. I am starting to slowly collect different beads. I emphasize slowly though, since I really don’t have budget for more craft stuff. I am not sure how long this will take me because I want to make sure that I get the colors and form right. Time is also an issue with me, since I can only work an hour or two each day. This is what I have created so far. Looking from this picture, I know that it doesn’t seem like I have accomplished much, but I have mixed and remixed colors over and over again for the past week. At this point, it is really a trial and error process for me, but I am certainly enjoying the process.
