We ended going the local mall to do some trick-o-treating. The boys had a total blast. Brennan came back with way too much candy though. I had to hide them up high in the cupboards with our alcohol, but I am sure he will be asking about them tomorrow. A few times Elden went up and when the person handing out goodies tried to give him some candy, he kind of stared at it, not really sure what to do with it. He did end up with a couple pieces of goodies in his hand, and started sucking on the wrapper. I gave him a couple tiny pieces of chocolate to try, which he seemed to enjoy. Heck, who doesn’t enjoy chocolate!!! Other than that he ran around everywhere and tired himself silly.
I did want to share this tag book that recently made for a swap and some goodies that I received from my ss. I love making things that are fall inspired, although it doesn’t really feel like it out here. I love the brown, purple, orange, burgundy colors of fall. It just gives me the warm fuzzies. Also, I forgot to mention that my header pictures on the top right side that I created last week was inspired by Nikki! She has consistently kept her header design simple and elegant on her blog, and stayed true to her design sense. I truly admire that.

Very cool stuff from my SS. I am definitely going to be putting all these goodies to good use, especially after I get my final paper complete. For some reason my professor is ending our class a month early, giving me two whole months of free time. I can’t wait because I am so going scrap every freakin single day. ![]()

Check out what I won from Suzanne.

Maybe this is a start to a lucky streak!
I’m almost complete with this fun Halloween mini tin that I have been working on. Hopefully, I will finish it sometime this week. I will be mostly busy working on my paper for my class, which btw, I decided to write about disability accessiblity and the changes that libraries have had to go through in the last 20 years, and also currently. Also, how the passing of the 1990 LIbraries and the Americans with Disablities Act has influenced those changes. I will talk about it more on here, once I have actually written my paper. It seems to be a very relevant subject these days.
Anyways, happy Sunday!
I know it is a total cliche, but I just can’t believe how fast time flies. Elden keeps me constantly on my toes, along with his big brother. There is never a dull moment with these kids. Elden doesn’t talk as much as I thought he would be doing. I figured since he walked earlier, that naturally he would advance in talking as well. But I suppose 16 months is still early for a word explosion. Other than the handful of words that he says (mama, dada, cat, dog), he signs brushing teeth and milk. He just discovered that how to purposely blink his eyes. It is too hilarious. He also sticks his tongue out when you ask him to. He understands so much, so I am not really worried about his talking. I absolutely love when the two of them play and interact with each other. He can pretty much walk up the stairs when he is holding on the rail. He doesn’t do it on our stairs though because they are a bit to high for him, but will usually do so at the a playground structure, where the stairs are lower. And if there are only two steps, he can usually walk up and down them without holding anything. He also discovered that he can stand on a the rails of his crib, or at least climb on top of them and then jump off. Guess where he learned that from? He will pretty much mimic whatever Brennan does. Like if Brennan decides to stand on a ball, he will do it do, but of course will fall right down. He doesn’t quite have that balancing skill. But is awesome how much he does learn from his big brother.
Brennan’s party at school was a total blast. Even though it wasn’t my workday, I wanted to stay just so I could take tons of pictures of all the fun. Elden enjoyed himself as well.
Brennan picked up these two llittle cuties at the pumpkin patch on tuesday. He drew little happy faces on them.

This was my first time carving pumpkins. It is actually pretty darn addicting. I printed a Dora the Explorer template from the nickjr.com site. Since the template was made for a bigger pumpkin, I had to carve the pumpkin freehand on the smaller pumpkin. It didn’t come out too bad. I think we are going to have to get some bigger pumpkins because like I said, I think I am totally addicted.

The week was so much fun because of all the Halloween activities, but my weekend is going to suck because I will be working my final paper for my Library Management class. Boohoo!!!
Isn’t Elden such a little cutie here? So much loving here. I definitely need to scrap this photo. So many cute pictures, but no time to post them online.

Yesterday was Den’s 39th birthday! Inspired by Sherina’s recent entry about her husband, I decided to come up with my own random list of reasons why I love my husband so much!
20 reasons why I love Dennis!
1. His long, lean, naturally strong sexy looking legs. That was one of the many physical attributes that atrracted me to Den initially.
2. He cooks us dinner and actually enjoys it.
3. His ability to take pictures, videos, and cut the umbilical cords during the birth of both of the boys.
4. His alternative, yet sometimes very odd view of life.
5. That he has put up with me for so many years.
6. Another physical aspect that I love are his eyes because they change from blue to green and I am still not sure what color they truly are.
7. How is able to keep me grounded.
8. I love when he plays with the boys.
9. That he works and makes money for us so that I can stay home with the boys.
10. His love for academia and teaching.
11. I love his scruffy beard.
12. It’s been awhile, but I love when he pulls out guitar and plays for us.
13. His sweet kisses.
14. His patience.
15. His quiet demeanor.
16. The fact that he doesn’t watch any sports on tv. That is a total plus!!!
17. Not only does he like to cook dinner, he is the master griller for all the family gatherings.
18. He wrote a song dedicated to me titled, “The Brand New Susie Q”.
19. He is supportive of the fact that I want to get my Masters degree in Library Science.
20. The older he gets, the sexier he looks!
I altered this mini Choxie tin that used to have yummy carmel chocolates in it. This is a b-day gift to Den, with some current pictures from the past few months. I didn’t add any embellishments because I didn’t want it be too heavy. Paper is Bazzil and Basic Grey, with a star chipboard from Lil Davis and swirlies from Fancy Pants

I posted this on MR earlier this morning, but I wanted to repost here on my blog as well because I am interested in hearing what other people feel about this. I usually don’t post about anything in the news and media, but this story made an impression in my mind.
This verdict and punishment was annouced this past Friday for George Russell Weller. This was the elderly man that that killed 10 people and injured 63 at the Santa Monica, CA farmers market car crash way back in July 16, 2003. I remember that day well because I was working that day. My old office was in Santa Monica, not too far from the Santa Monica farmers market. I could have very well been there that very day.
I definitely feel that that the guilty verdict was a fair judgement, but I don’t think giving an almost a 90 year old man, practically a life sentence is the correct thing to do. So do you feel that he received a fair punishment? And what other alternatives could there be?
The little joys in life make me happy! Den came home with a single red rose the other day. We’ve had some minor miscommunications the past week, so it was a very sweet gesture. Oh, it seems like lately we have been arguing a lot, where I usually end up walking out the door to catch some fresh air, and cool down. Yesterday, we had an argument about how he wanted me to clean more than I was already cleaning. It was relatively a silly argument, which is how most of them start off. We did kiss and make up after. This time, I made sure to put my sunglasses and shoes on. Last time, I left without my shoes, and ended with some huge monster ass blisters on my feet. He was concerned enough, to remind me to put some shoes on and also to be careful and not to trip. I had to wear my old berkinstocks, which were the same sandles that I wore when I tripped and fractured my foot, running to get my sunglasses out of the car one day. This was several years ago, btw. I ended walking to Target. I didn’t have my wallet, so I unfortunately I couldn’t buy anything. LOL! I pretty much wandered the aisles. I had to stop by the scrapbooking aisle of course. They had a lot of neat stuff from Creating Memories, like a huge spool of about 7 different ribbon, some cheap chipboard albums, and other random goodies. I also enjoyed googling at the Choxie aisle. But mostly, I was really excited when I came to the electronics section. Target has finally started selling the Archos504. This isn’t the grandaddy of all pvp’s like the Archos604, but it certainly got me all wet and excited. It definitely put me in a better mood afterwards, when I walked by home about an hour later.
Later that day, we checked out a few of the Halloween superstores. Superstore they were not. I wasn’t too impressed, but Den created this new Halloween ritual for us to visit Halloween stores. So I guess it was a fun family outing. Haha!!! This week is filled with lots of fun stuff for Brennan though. Tomorrow we have the field trip to the pumpkin patch and Thursday is the Halloween party at school. They stamped a white t-shirt with some fun Halloween paint stamps, which the kids will be wearing to the pumpkin patch. I finally decorated a lunchpail that is pretty much ready to be filled with Halloween pictures. It is actually a mini lunchpail, and I think it came out quite lovely with the Daisy D’s paper. As far as actual Halloween goes, we don’t have anything planned. We usually are not home to pass out candy.
I finally finished my layouts that I have been working on for the last month. I just need to take pictures and upload. I swear I must be the slowest scrapper in the entire world. No wonder I can never get on a DT. I can never finish my layouts on time to even get them entered in any DT submissions.
So this was a layout that did last month. The paper is Basic Grey from the Skate Shoppe line, the title Groove Armada is the Cyberotica Bold, the brushes are Jason Gaylor and soundwaves by netzfx. This was truly a fun layout for me to do. I love the graphical feeling of it and I think embodies exactly what I was thinking. I love when a layout pretty much comes out the way I imagine in my mind. Most times that usually does not happen, but it seems more lately things are working out like that and this makes me very happy.

Drat, there goes my internet time for the day. Elden just woke up!
So we just got back from picking Den from the airport. Talk about poor planning and surprises on my part. We live really close to the airport where Den was arriving, but just in case, I made sure that we left about 30 minutes before his arrival. The traffic wasn’t too bad, surprisingly for his 12:17 p.m. arrival time. So I had it in my mind, that we were going to surprise him by waiting at the gate. Unfortunately, that so did not work out. For some reason I couldn’t find the airline that he was flying with, and I kept turning into the wrong area. There are so many airlines, that anytime we go here, I get so confused. So instead of actually finding the airlines, I just decide to park. We get out of the car and ask someone where the airline was. They tell me that it is the other side of where we were. I didn’t think that was too far, but when you have a 3 1/2 year old and a baby in a stroller, pretty much any distance is far. We pretty much run to the other side. Brennan was so exhausted, but I kept telling him if he wanted to see his dad, that he better keep up with me. How terrible that is of me, I know. But the fact, that I wanted to surprise him, was pretty much the only reason, at this point why I wanted to keep on running. We get to the other side, and I ask someone where the airline is. They tell just down to the right. So we run as fast as we can, and where we get to baggage. I look up the flight #, and the screen shows that he already landed. There was so many, so ask someone where is the flight number gate. They tell me it was at the other side, where we had just came from. So we go back that direction, when I decide to check my phone. Den had called twice, so I call him back. He tells he is back at the other side, where baggage was. So we have to run back, where we finally run into him. I took a few shots of him and Brennan hugging. Elden was sleeping in his stroller, so he missed out on the fun, although he probably had a fun ride.
So the moral of my story is pick up your hubby at the sidewalk out front of the airline, instead of parking, and don’t even try to attempt to surprise him because it never ends up working. He wasn’t too happy because we had to walk all the way back to the car. If was happy to see us, but I think he probably thought what a total dork I was to even attempt such a thing. Oh well!!!
