Archive for June, 2006

According to this article from Sci-Tech Today, it states that:

The American Technology Research analyst also warned that the launch of a widescreen video iPod, which had been expected to debut in the fourth quarter of 2006, likely will be delayed until the first six months of 2007.

Wu cited battery life as the likely reason for the delay. “[Apple] is aiming to increase both the screen size and improve the battery life — two conflicting attributes that are difficult to improve simultaneously and require significant engineering,” Wu wrote.

Regardless, if Apple does delay their widescreen video iPod to improve the battery life, it still won’t be able to compete with the current PVP’s. Actually, it I highly doubt that it will even be a PVP player. I doubt it will have the capability to record off the TV, have WiFi capabilities, and do all the other cool stuff like the Archos.

My brother keeps telliing me to wait for Apple to come up with their state of the art portable video player, before I get the Archos. He is so caught in Apple fever, that he just can’t snap out it and realize that it will be awhile before they catch up to the PVP’s of today.

Check out these cool tools for Firefox and Mozilla users. Web Developer has been out for awhile, and also HTML Validator, which is based on Tidy, which was released June 10, 2006.

There is also a shlew of other kickin tools to play with!  Woohoo!!!

Apparently Elden’s two top back molars broke through, and I had no clue at all.  He didn’t even suffer, or at least I didn’t notice at all.  He hasn’t had any new teeth for a while, so I was really expecting something come in, but I just lost track of time.  I am suspecting that his bottom molars will come in within the next week or so.  Luckily, neither of my boys really suffered with teething issues. He now has 10 teeth.

I have created a page also to keep track of his words. He learned dog “daw-k” a couple of days ago, and today he said cat.  He seems to catch on really quickly.  I’m telling you this guy is growing way too fast.

Also, I forgot to mention that he turned 11 months yesterday.  Happy belated 11 months Mr. Elden!!!

Wow, I can’t believe this is my 3rd blog entry in the last three days. I’ve been meaning to blog about Elden’s last achievements, but I keep neglecting to do so.

Anyways, this past week, Elden started doing peek-a-boo, by holding a rag in front of his face and then pulling it down, leaving a huge smile across his face. Also, he does the sign for milk. That is the only sign I know, besides more, but he hasn’t done more yet. He also claps his hand. There are also these korean hand signs that we have been teaching him. It is not really actual korean words, but just these little nonsensical ryhmes that are accompanied with hand signs. He does gongee-gongee-gongee, which is putting the pointer finger into the opposite hand. He says all the mama – dada – baba – gaga sounds and sort of repeats the sounds that we say to him. I think he repeats duck, at least that is what it sounds like.

You know what, I just realized that he will be 11 months tomorrow. How did that happen so fast? I certainly have not blogged about it enough. I really need to make it a point more to blog about the little happy things of life.

This little boy is just everywhere.  He walks probably 95% of the time.  He walks clear across the room and then turns around.  Of course, he doesn’t walk backwards, but he does go sideways somewhat and turns really well.  He enjoys pestering Brennan, by pulling his hair, and clamboring over him.  It is so cute when they play together.  Brennan still has issues with sharing, but I think that is going to a lifelong learning thing.  It is cool when he does share with Elden, and realizes that it is a good thing.

Elden climbs up the stairs really well.  He reallly is thrilled to go up.  He goes down the stair fairly well too, but I can tell that he would rather walk down if he could.  He loves playing in the toilet, but I have to keep the bathroom doors closed, or else he would be swimming in it.  He enjoys opening and closing all the cabinet doors.  Truthfully, we haven’t done much safety protection.  The kitchen cabinets underneath the sinks are the only places where we have safety latches installed.  And that was from Brennan days.  Other than that, we have one gate for the top stairs.  We have our couch blocking the bottom of the stairs.  It makes things really crowded looking, but it will have to do for now. Pretty much all the lower cabinets are emptied out, for him to get into any harm.

Now Brennan is growing way too quickly.  He is really into puzzles and board games.  In fact, the other day we played about a half a dozen puzzles and games.  He likes to play Dora on the computer. He especially likes to print out pictures to color, which he does all on his own. How fast these kids learn.  He loves playing with legos and building things.  And of course, he loves his trains and cars.  He enjoys swimming in his pool, hosing everything down with water, and of course climbing and jumping.

Oh and yesterday, Elden had his first ride in the choo-choo train at the mall. He really enjoyed himself.  I will post pictures, but I am at my parent’s house right now on the laptop, and also Brennan fried yet another keyboard, so I can’t really use the desktop at home.  Which reminds I need to ask my brother or dad if they have an extra keyboard that they can pass on.
I plan on getting Elden’s one year pictures taken and also get a few poses with both the boys.  I neglected to get Brennan’s one years pictures done. Bad me!

We are also in the planning stages for Elden’s one year birthday party. We were thinking about having the family only party at the park next to the beach, but now we are kind of not sure now. Well, I am kind of not sure, since I am the one that will have to make the final decision.  Plus the date is not final yet.

Well that is all the blogging that I can do for one day.

I am so looking forward to the The Original Rubber Stamp Convention, in Carson, CA. that is in July 8 & 9. I haven’t gone since last year, when I was actually 8 months preggo with Elden. I am even more excited because this is the first time that Tim Holtz, will be making his appearance. I will certainly have to get my picture with him. I definitely admire his work and I think it is awesome that he has his own line of rubber stamps. There is also going to be an ATC contest, which I am will be sure to enter. I better get creating because it is in 2 weeks.

Ali Edwards has a Happy blog!  Yay, for lots of happiness and sunshine!  Also, I really can’t wait for her “Designer’s Eye for Scrapbooking” comes out! I’ve really gotten to admire her work, these days.  The other day I tore out all of her Studio A articles out of my CK mags, so that I can organize them into a binder.  She truly is inspirational, in every sense of the word.

I’ve always loved things technology related. Especially the cool tech toys. Ever since I attended the first podcast expo in Ontario, CA and was introduced to the Archos AV500, I fell instantly in love. Well apparently there is a release date of either July or August for the next wave of Archos PVP devices. Cited in archosfans, the newest models are stated to be Archos 404, 504, and 604. I won’t list all the stats here, but if you want to see photo of what they are supposed to look like, check out the link. The pictures were from the Trois Suisses winter catalogue.

I don’t know how, but if I have to get a part-time job doing production creating web banners (these are banners I either created or did production on, end of quarter 2002 and beginning of quarter 2003 based on print ads for the Canon printer and scanner line.) then I will do it, to be able to get myself one of these babies.

****GRRRRR, so many interruptions!!! Be right back.****

I’ve always been a fan of Michael Heilemann of Binary Bonsai and his Kubrick Template, but when I found out that he started narrowcasting (as he phrases it) a podcast, I was completely thrilled. The first episode that I listened to was episode 3. The thing that stood out to me the most was about blogging and blogging with intention. That is to write something that is meanigful and not just empty ramblings.  Well anyways, be sure to catch this podcast.
