Archive for March, 2006

I love how this layout turned out. This is more of the Leaving Memories March kit.  Brennan took this photo of me taking pictures of our flowers. Anyways, I love Basic Grey.Â

Day 2 and I am already behind. I know we are at day 4, I just can’t keep up. I love the freeness of this process, but I am do feel stressed with everything else going on. Like I have to still read 15 articles by Sunday and create Post and Pre Coordinates for each article. Plus, our midterms will be sent to us on Monday, and I haven’t even done all of the readings. I feel so overwhelmed. I don’t know why I keep on tacking on more things for me to do. Then there is a birthday party that we are supposed to go Saturday. I so don’t want to go. Arhh!!! I heard that it was going to rain, maybe then the party will be cancelled. I still want to upload the Yosemite pictures too. Eventually, I will get to them. Don’t I totally sound overwhelmed? I don’t even have time to think straight anymore.
Here is my cover for Rhonna’s {21} days of challenge. Â
 The journal was from Tami.Â
My goal for this challenge is to improve the way I organize and clean my house. I am so sloppy. The dishes never get done, until the next day. The laundry sits unfolded for several days. I rarely pick up the toys anymore. I think the fact that our house is so utterly cluttered, it blocks my creativity to be free. I constantly have negative thoughts. It’s like I have some sort of blockage, mentally and other. I know this challenge will be a positive change for me. it is a cleansing rejuvination of sorts. My goals are big, but I will take baby steps to reach them.

Another layout using the Leaving Memories March kit. Love it! And Malia is so gorgeous amongst these cherry blossoms.Â
Gosh, I can’t believe I am 34. I know I am not old or anything, but goodness. Let’s see, when I was 24, I had been married less than a year to Den. I was working for the Los Angeles School District as an assistant in their Training and Development program. I had a Psychology degree, and I thought that was going to get a Ph.D. in Industrial and Organizational Psychology. I had started getting interested in graphic design, and not yet got into web design.Â
We partied a hell of a lot back then. We were always having parties at our apartment. At nights, I would work at my parent’s Round Table. I went to the gym, 4-6 times a week. I was totally obsessed with the Sims towers, Sims, and basically any of the Sims games. I used to be very organized and I would enter every single check and receipt into Money or whatever that program was called.Â
Whenever I went into Michaels (back then that was the only craft store I knew about), I would be be puzzled about all the scrapping stickers that I saw hanging in the store. I had no idea, what it was for. I actually didn’t do anything artsy or crafty at the time. I just played Sims all night long. I loved buying shoes, makeup, and clothes. My favorite line of makeup was Mac, Aveda, and Â
I was driving a Black Honda Del Sol. I loved driving with the top down and feeling the wind hitting my face. My favorite beaches at the time were Huntington, Newport, and Laguna Beach.Â
I was very carefree and always had a smile plastered on my face.Â

I am just loving this March kit from Leaving Memories. I am honored to be a Guest DT. I’m totally addicted to the felty flowers. I want more!

So we were at the Galleria yesterday. I had to send some stuff in the mail. I like that the Galleria has a post office. Makes things so much easier. Anyways, after letting the kids ride on some of kiddie rides, we go down the elevator. Some lady mentions the Easter Bunny is there. I of course, get excited. Brennan has been asking about the Easter Bunny for the last two weeks. He asks, is the Easter Bunny coming, am I getting an Easter basket, yadayadada…
What was I thnking? Like I thought I was going to get some really cute pictures of the boys and the Easter Bunny. Hah! We walk along the outside, not going into the booth, yet. I find out the price and then say to him come on, let’s go say to the EB. He looks. No look of fear YET. I grab Elden out of the stroller and star walking into the booth. They EB is waving. Brennan stays outside, with a look of horror on his face. Suddenly, he just runs off, really fast and far away. I yell out to him to come back because I have something for him. He comes back. The EB assistants hands him a coloring book, then he takes off running again. Oh sheesh. I end up running after him and then I say nevermind. Oh well!Â
We had a wonderful time at Yosemite. It was refreshing, but like all vacations, so short-lived. and is now a distant memory. Now it’s time to get back into the grind.Â
So back to Yosemite. It was quite lovely. It snowed on Monday and all through the night, into Tuesday early morning. We woke up to about 4 feet of snow. Brennan just absolutely loved it. Elden was quite entertained by the snow as well. It was all so relaxing. We mainly wandered around and sucked in all the beauty that makes up Yosemite. I still need to upload to Flickr. I’ve been slowing getting back into all my online obsessions and messagaboards, so I can catch up on everyone. I hope you missed me a tiny teeny bit because I sure missed everyone.Â
I will try to conjure a longer post sometime. I really don’t really like writing.Â
Just when I thought I wasn’t in the mood to write, I remember something.
I did forget to mention, that Elden turned 8 months on Thurday. I still does his standing thing and is now starting to cruise around the furniture. He has this funny crawl, where he starts to crawl, but then sort of drags one of his legs. It’s like he has a limp, but he is crawling. It is kind of funny, actually. He eats all sorts of stuff now. He loves to grab food to feed himself with the pincer hold (grabbing food with his thumb and forefinger). For awhile he was not into the baby food, so I started to boil carrots and squash, and other yummy vegetables. He can devour half a banana. I am really not stringent on what I feed him, just as long as it isn’t seasoned. I already fed him tiny pieces of strawberries, grapes, chicken, meat, apples, bananas, cottage cheese, and rice. Of course, he still prefers the boob. I also got him a sippy cup, although he drinks water out of water bottle and cup already. I think he just wants to get ahead of the game.Â
That’s all for now.
Â
Here you go Maricar.
1. My birthday is in 10 days. I can’t believe I am going to turn 34 or is 35. No, it is 34. I get confused about my age these days. I really do have everything thing I need, but there is a lot of stuff I want, particularly the Archos PVP 500.Â
2. I love the Sopranos. Right now I am watching the entire series on DVD. I don’t have HBO, and my a-hole of a brother won’t record it for me. Jerk!!! So I have to wait until 2009, or whenever it comes out on DVD. In the meantime, I’m enjoying watching the reruns.Â
3. I hope to be done with my Master’s degree in Library Science in 3 years. That is, if I enroll in summer classes, and take two classes every semester.  So far, I’ve only taken two classes. Right now, I am taking Information Retrieval. I absolutely love my professor and the class so far has been a learning experience. For our first assignment, we had to work in groups and create a database. it was definitely a trying assignment. At first my teammates annoyed the hell out of me. I even went so far to quit the team. But in the end, I stuck with my group and I ended learning so much. The purpose of this project was to build a database, come up with 12 attributes and create the structure, then enter the records for the items. In our case, we used different chewing gums. Some of the attributes that we came up with were package color, price, sugar content, and manufacture name. I know this is sort of boring sounding, but it was all very neat to see how the database came together. After we built the structure, we had beta-testers enter records to see how clear we were with our rules. For our next assignment, we have to create post and pre coordinates for 15 articles on Information Retrieval. I am not sure if I will be working with the same group, but I guess so far, I will.
4. Yesterday, we went to Cerritos Library. I can’t believe how amazing this library is. It looks like a mall and museum, instead of a library. When I get a chance later tonight, I will post some pictures. The outside walls are copper or some kind of metal. Inside the front atrium is a huge fish tank. The children’s section is phenomon. There is a huge dinosar, a rocket ship, and a big tree in the middle, besides a windmill. We read Dora the explorer books inside the windmill. Afterwards, Brennan got totally soaked running through the water, although it was raining. He is so silly. Oh, btw, their website totally sucks.Â
5. Only one more day, until we go to Yosemite. I am so looking forward to this trip, like I have already said before.  It is so beautiful at this time of the year. I don’t really feel like we are really there until we cross through the tunnel and park and sit on the stone wall and gaze at Half Dome. We plan to go ice skating, go hiking, build a snow man, do some more hiking. sleep, ride the local bus around and around, eat pizza at Degnan’s Deli, drink beer, do more hiking, eat at the cafeteria, daydream, and in general spend some quality time with my family.Â
