For lack of a better title. We just got back from the ped because of Brennan’s poop problems that he has been having for the last month and half. Last time, she told me to give him a serving of vegetables with every meal (ya right!), and give him .5 mm of little tummies laxative for seven days and then after that it was okay to give him flaxseed oil. Well, for the last month, I have been making him fruit shakes, giving him shots of prune juice, pear juice, basically all that I can. It turns out that he has been holding his poop in because when he has to go he crosses his legs, although I couldn’t tell because he was grunting, yelling out “poop” and his face was turning red. So she told me to continue trying the best that I could with feeding him. He is such a picky eater that it drives me nuts. She also told me to give him .25 mm of the laxative medicine for a month and try to start potty training him. We actually started a little while ago because he was expressing his desire to use the toilet, but that all ended since his problems.
After talking about his constipation, I asked the dr. to look at his teeth because I had noticed that one of his front teeth looked chipped. Well it turns out that he has about 2 cavities and it could be more. Damn, that just ruined my day. Not only does he have cavities, but they are on his front teeth. And to top it all off, my freakin neighbor mentioned that she has a niece that had jacked up teeth and had to have a root canel at two. She also said that if it isn’t treated soon enough, that they would have to pull the teeth out. What the fuck is her problem telling me this? Arghh!!! That is the last thing a mother wants to hear about. Anyways, I have to make a dentist appointment as soon as possible now.
Well my mom came by for a surprise visit. She must really miss him to want to want to make the long drive out here. What a funny lady my mom is. We are going have lunch at the tofu house. Brennan loves shrimp, so I will probably get the shrimp and vegetable tofu soup with “calbi” (korean short ribs) on the side, and some tea. Yum! Maybe that will lift my mood up. If that doesn’t work, maybe my weekly dosage of the OC will lift my spirits up.
Is that even a word? Anwyays, I was a tad surprised that my first paper came back with a 90% (A). I mainly had problems with some sentence structure and some minor citation errors. It has been about 9 years since I wrote a paper based on the APA style and back then there was no internet to do research, it was mainly journals that I had to retrieve physically from the library. How things have changed in 9 years. For our next paper, we have to write a comparison paper on the different libraries (academic, public, school, and special) and examine the similarities and differences of each, in view of clientele, funding sources, atmosphere/ambience, and heterogeneity/homogeneity of subject areas. Interesting, no? Oh ya, and also take two of the library types and discuss the benefits and drawbacks of combining the two into one. This paper isn’t due until March 9th, but I need to get started on the research part of it.
Also, Brennan has been difficult for my mom lately when I drop him off with her. She says that he just screams and cries looking for me and daddy. I am thinking it is a little stressful for her because she tells me that maybe no one else can take care of him but me, but then she turns around and says that we should drop him off more often so that he will get more used to being away with us. Talk about conflicting ideas. I haven’t dropped him off at all this week. I figure I should give her a break. But I am thinking of dropping him off on Sunday so that I can at least get my research started. Plus, I have to help load this Greek font for Den because he needs to print something in Greek for his paper. I am so happy for him because next Monday he turns in his final 400 page draft until his defense, next month.
Wow! I had a total blast at the Scrapbooking Expo yesterday. I came away with so many ideas. Although, getting there was a bit frightful and challenging. As you probably heard in the news, CA has been having shitloads of rain fall down upon us. The night before was scary for me because there was a couple hours of thunder and lightening, which a CA girl like me is so not used to. Yes, I am a weather wimp. Anyways, I had planned to leave at a quarter to 7, but apparently I had forgotten that the power went out and changed the time. When I first looked at the clock it was 5:00, but I guess Den had changed the time and so the actual time was 6:45. I eventually left at 7:15 or so. The drive was scary because I am not used to driving through a shitload of rain. And at one point, while passing through Long Beach on the 405, there was even some hail. It was pouring so heavily, that I couldn’t see anything. I thought to myself is it worth it? Hell Ya!!!
Enough of the weather. First here are the stuff that I bought.
-I bought the Primary Elements instead of the H20’s by LuminArte The colors that I got were: key lime, mustard green, majestic blue, sky blue, sunburst, gold dust, black cherry, copper penny, garnet, pink azalea, passion, and cranberry. Unfortunately, the website doesn’t show the pictures of all the colors. Basically, they are permanent watercolors (brilliant ground colors mixed with sparkling mica pigments) in a form of powder. You have to mix with this solution in order to activate it.
-a premade scrapbook layout by lickety split scrapbooks. I also received a take home layout with my make n take that I made with them.
- Finally, I bought an embossing label maker by dymo. It came with three colored tape: black, red, and blue.
This stuff will hold me over until next month when I attend the A Stamp in the Hand stamping expo. I missed it in November when I fractured my foot.
Now to the stuff that I have made in the last couple of weeks and from workshops and make n takes from the expo. You can see all of them and other amazing stuff by other creative ladies at cardsncrafts. Now hurry and join, why don’t you. Trust me you will be truly inspired and addicted to cardmaking and stamping in no time if you aren’t already. Oh, and it is not only cardmaking, but that is the main theme of the forum. I love it there. In fact that is where I have been spending most of my time, instead on parenting boards.
Now here are the cards that I made in the past couple of weeks.
-asian themed birthday card
-butterfly harlequin
-flower crisscross striped card
-blue birthday
Now the following was made from the sizzix workshop that I took from the expo. It is an accordian mini album, that I scanned in 5 parts.
-friends minibook cover
-two
-three
-four
-back cover
And the finally, the rest of these were made at few different make n takes from the expo.
-lavender love
-admit one into my heart
-mini travel book
I hope you enjoy them all as much I have enjoyed making them!
Hunter S. Thompson, King of Gonzo journalism, dead at 67, by a self-inflicted shot gun wound. I – just – can’t – believe – it!
There might be a possible break in a murdered woman, Sharon Santos. Her body was found in the trunk of her car in downtown Chinatown about 6 months ago. It is truly a sad story. I went to highschool with her and remembering her being very nice and very together. She was a couple years younger than me, and actually ended up graduating from another highschool, apparently. Anyways, it is such a sad story. Please keep her family in your thoughts and that they can make an arrest on her murderer.
Yep, that’s all Brennan has been doing all day long. I don’t remember if I wrote about his constipation problems, but he’s been having issues on and off for the last month or two. He was fine for a couple of weeks, but then for some reason he has been having major issues this whole week. We haven’t gone out of the house for the last two days because he gets so tired out from trying to poop all day, that after a big session he just passes out. Like now, he is passed out on the floor after wanting to drink milk from a bottle. Yep, from a bottle. My mom gives him a bottle of milk at her house. So I had to look all of the cabinets for a clean bottle because he kept insisting.
Well today, it was much better, although he still was in pain, but at least the huge softer plops were coming out, instead of the “poopoo balls” (that’s what he call them, you know that hard alien smelling ones. I’ve been giving him prune and… oops, my nose was itching and so I scratched it and a little booger just came out. See, I haven’t even had time to pick my nose today because I have been tending to Brennan all day.
So anyways, he has getting daily shots of prune juice and flaxseed oil that I give him in the tiny medicine cups, so he thinks that he is getting shots of tequila (j/k about the alcohol). Also, I make him blended fruit drinks in the morning. He is not a big vegetable eater nor bread eater (of course one of the biggest foods groups). I wish he would eat leafy vegetables like spinach or something. He does eat salad, so I suppose that counts as a leafy vegetable. And what else, I shove those tangerines down his throat. I mean I have been trying every remedy. I don’t want to give him an enema because I am sure his system is messed up as it is. I did give him some baby laxative for a couple of days.
I hope that this isn’t a long term problem. I already took him to the ped for this. His two year appt. is in April, so I will just have to be persistent in giving him good and healthy food. I have to admit that I am guilty of giving him whatever is easiest to cook. I don’t make homemade sauces, or little pizza bread that are dressed up as cats or cute animals. Nor do I bake homemade zucchini muffins. Well you get the point. But I suppose I really do need to make sure that he receives a somewhat balanced meal.
So anyways, it has been a little stressful for me. I hate to see him in pain and having to struggle just to poop.
Thank you to all of you that left comments. It just made my day!:) Well now I have to go search for 6 articles for next weeks readings.
Oh, another thing, I am so excited because tomorrow is the Scrapbooking Expo. Ya, the one that I went to last week, but it was the wrong day. I have made some cards this week and will be posting them to CardsnCrafts hopefully on Saturday night. I still have add some finishing touches on a card that I am working on, and I ran out of black cardstock. I am also taking a couple of workshops so I am sure I will learn some great ideas. I have also been interested in the Twinkling H2O’s for sometime. They will have a booth set up, with a free make and take, so I will probably have a card or something to post up, with some other cool stuff. I am leaving around 7:00 a.m. and will probably be gone the whole day. Nice eh! Den is going to drop Brennan off with my mom, so he can continue working on his thesis.
Ooh, this entry got too long. Have a great weekend everyone!
that I had the spam blocker activated. I am hoping that is why I haven’t received any comments, since I reopened them. I hope I get at least one comment now.
