I got accepted in the MLIS program starting in January. I am only enrolling in one class, since it so expensive and I can’t enroll for financial aid until the next semester. Plus I doubt I could handle two classes right now. I am so excited to embark on this new career path. I have worked as a slide librarian a few years ago, so it is not something entirely new. I will probably start writing a lot about my studies in the coming months, so don’t expect anything exciting here.
Here are a few of Brennan’s new words this week. I thought he would start to say like 20 new words a day, but as long as he is actually progressing, that is good enough for me. As a parent, you have a certain expectations. It is difficult to let go of those expectations sometimes.
Mul – which is water in korean
water – He actually said bye water, but I didn’t hear it. He said after he was done with his bath at my parent’s house and the water was going down the drain.
blue – referring to his socks
Not a new word, but sings the alphabet in D’s. “D, D, D, D, D, D, D”
We are also back home now. We got back on Friday and I’ve been home with Brennan by myself since Monday. It has been very difficult to get around, so most of the time, I just stay in one place. I have been trying to get around with the crutches by kind of hopping on my left foot and kind of putting some pressure on the right, injured foot. I try to put pressure on my heel, but it still feels strained. I have a doctor’s appointment next Tuesday. Although, I totally appreciated staying at my parent’s house for these last two weeks, it was time to come back home.
Brennan why are you so damn stubborn? And what is up with your temper tantrums? Yesterday was a prime example of the terrible twos. There is this plant in the atrium of my parent’s house. Brennan loves to pull the leaves off. My mom reprimended him and lightly whapping me on the hand and telling him no in a somewhat raised voice. He got pretty upset over that because he hates getting scolded. He then went over toward these two smal wastebaskets and then knocked them down into their bar. There was only a small amount of trash in one of the them and the other one was empty. There are a couple steps that go down to the back of the bar, which is where he knocked the trash to. I wheeled myelf over to block the stairs and placed him down in the bar and told him in a nice voice to pick the trash up. After a few times, he did start to pick up a couple things, but that was it. I guess at that point, I should have let it be, but I was determined to get him to pick up the rest of the trash. Well at least the bigger pieces. So were at it for about 15-20 minutes and he was just screaming and whining, and arching his back. He was basically having a breakdown. I then just gave up and went into the kitchen. My mom came over and asked him in a nice voice to bring the trash can to mommy. He started to carry it over, but then just threw it across the atrium and kicked it. He kept throwing it, when we asked him to bring the trash can over. He even did it later in the evening. I guess he was pretty upset over the whole situation because when my mom was explaining it to Den later that night, Brennan just kind of had this look on his face. He totally understood what we were talking about and even when Den asked him to bring over the trashcan to me, he just threw it across the room. Oh and boy when the kid has a temper tamtrum, he really gets out of control for like 10 minutes. For example, when he is trying to figure something out, like a puzzle or if he wants something and we don’t give it to him, he first starts his cry with his pouty face. Then if doesn’t get his way, or if we don’t give him what he wants, he just flings himself onto the floor and then starts rolling on the ground. Over and over for about 10 minutes and probably more. I am usually in shock, that I just turn away from him. The weird thing is after he is done with his temper tantrum he just gets up and smirks. Also, there are usually no tears, so it is like his totally faking his cries or something. It is just the craziest thing. I am noticing that if he doesn’t want to listen to me, he will completely ignore me and not even respond to my commands. I hope he outgrows this stage soon because it truly drives me crazy and it doesn’t make it easier that we are stuck inside all day.
We will most likely go home on either Friday or Saturday. We are supposed to go to a birthday party at My Gym, which I would like to go to and I know that Brennan would enjoy, since I already RSVP’d and plus we have already missed like 4 birthday parties. he hasn’t gone outside in a while and I am sure part of his behavior maybe that he is going a little bit stir crazy. I don’t know.
I haven’t done one of these quizzes in a long time, but I couldn’t say no to this one because I am a wannabe computer geek.
Which File Extension are You?
I found it on a site when surfing with blog explosion. I wanted to give credit to the site that I found it on, but after I took the quiz, I clicked back, but it took me to a different site. Blah!
For some reason, it is always so difficult for me to get into the holiday spirit. You would think that since having a kid, that I would be off rushing to buy decorations for the house, buying Christmas gifts, preparing egg nogs, eating peppermint candy canes, etc. I surely will not be putting up Thanksgiving decorations. What a waste of money. You would also think by now, after being married 9 years, that I would be excited to bake a big turkey for the family. Not!!! Den did order Thanksgiving dinner from Ma.ri.e Cal.an.dar. It comes with a Turkey, mashed potaotes, some other vegetables, ham, and a yummy apple pie. My mom normally cooks, but since she is still recovering from her injuries and I am obviously no help and not willing to do much, the best thing is to order something already prepared. We wil be going to Den’s sister’s house in the afternoon for the traditional chips and dip in their family and then come back to my parent’s house for dinner. Nothing fancy.
We usually buy Christmas presents the week of Christmas. I guess we do it that way because then the stores are super crowded and we usually feel pressured to pick up something quickly and not to lollygag around the stores. We are able to get in and out quickly. I do want to take some family pictures. We have to do that soon, so that they will be ready in time to send out for cards. I do want to make cards wtih my handmade paper, so I also have to start on those. Okay, nothing else exciting here, so get out of here and quit reading, although, I know that no one reads my blog anyways.
What I was writing earlier and now this is going to be old, but I was watching an interview with Greta Van Susteren and Senator Hillary Clinton the other night on CNN. They were talking about various things, and they were on location at the new Clinton Presidential Center. This question came up.
VAN SUSTEREN: For instance, let me give you the trick question. If you run for president in 2008, have you accommodated for that?
CLINTON: Well, I have no plans whatsoever of doing that.
VAN SUSTEREN: That was a trick question.
CLINTON: That was a trick question. You’re good at it! But you know, I’m really happy being a senator from New York. But this is a library about the Clinton presidency, the Bill Clinton presidency.
VAN SUSTEREN: No, I couldn’t trick you into that. I couldn’t trick you into that one!
I really think that Hillary would make an amazing president and it is disappointing to hear that she will not run. I would even be willing to volunteer to work for her campaign party. I guees I am only dreaming that it could actually happen.
Another thing I noticed was that Greta was wearing a pink silk blouse and black suit, kind of like the kind Hillary wore often during the later parts of the Clinton presidency. I am sure it was coincidental, but it just made me think about that and remember the Clinton era. Anyways, I might just have to join the Official Hillary Clinton for President in 2008 Campaign.
BTW, my poor baby has a little cold. He was coughing a bunch and his nose was running like crazy. Hopefully, he will get better soon. He did have a lot of energy though. It’s just the first time that he contracted a cough.
I applied to the MLIS program in September. It sure is taking a long time to hear if I have been accepted or not. Well, now my status is Referred to Grad Department – Your application has been evaluated and determined as meeting CSU eligibility by the Office of Graduate Studies & Research Your file has been referred out to your Graduate Program for a final admissions determination. So hopefully soon I will hear that I have been accepted.
Yippy! Den bought our tickets to Hawaii for our trip in January. I am so excited. I really, really need a vacation. And not this kind where I am sitting on my ass all day long with a gimp foot.
